While I was in Grand Forks, I believed that I would want to teach Secondary Education English classes. I was working toward a minor in Chinese Studies. As an English major, a student needed a second language, and Mandarin was a very appealing language to me. I have always wanted to see the Great Wall. Once I was able to observe a sixth grade FACs class, I found my true passion in Elementary Education. I am working toward a minor in Special Eduction and my degree in Elementary Education with the expectation to be completed by the spring of 2018.
InterestsI love coloring, reading, and running.

GoalsMy goal is to create a positive, stress free environment for students.
I want to change the lives of students in the same way they will impact my life. |
I enjoy browsing online web pages in order to find ideas that I can better my webpage, myself, and my opportunities created for students. I have found sites that allow parents to be involved in the classroom community their student attends with a blog that is updated often with videos and specific links that go to each child in the classroom that talks about each individual child's learning progress. In my search for resources to become a better teacher, I have come to find that good teachers don't "recreate" the wheel, they share ideas. Good teachers want to teach new teachers how to be successful. These are the teachers who have web pages for more than "instant" updates for parents on how each student is doing, but are the teachers who want to give other teachers the chance to use some of the same images and techniques. I believe that this helps all teachers to enhance student learning, especially for multi-language students, teachers can borrow resources to and from each other.
Employment
I have worked in the food industry for close to eight years. I really enjoy having tables come out to eat for the first time so I can tell them everything I know about the menu. I work for Buffalo Wild Wings. We are always promoting something new on our menu whether its a new burger or wing sauce. In order to be certified as a trainer, I've had to create a lesson plan for someone I could potentially train in about the must have knowledge. Most people think that becoming a server is easy, but once I became a server, I've had to teach myself, coworkers, and customers about the cooperation. I enjoy serving because I help create a positive atmosphere for families to take their children on nights they don't "feel like cooking" or "don't want to do the dishes".
In the last couple of years, I have participated in volunteer work for my home parish in Albany, Minnesota for a program called E.P.I.C. E.P.I.C. stands for every person in Christ. This was a great opportunity for me to give back to my home parish as well as get students involved in a healthy program over the summer where they can stay united as a group. The children who would attend this program were between the school grades of fourth through sixth grade. Every Wednesday night, we as leaders would meet as a group to discuss the evening, then we would execute lesson plans, give testimonies, practice "morning meeting" habits through games like knee-to-knee.
The year of 2014-2015, I was hired as an Assistant Coach at Albany High School. I worked with the Junior Varsity team. It was made up of seven very talented girls. Four of which were foreign exchange students, two eighth grades, and one seventh grader. In this season, we were able to learn the foreign language greetings and how to count to eight in German ( two girls were from Germany), French, and Spanish. This created a fun atmosphere for us to learn more about their language while we learned the basic techniques for dance. Our score sheets saw improvements from the first meet to the last meet. I enjoyed my time with these girls. I was constantly planning new moves, practices, and team bonding activities. My favorite activity was before our last meet, conference, I had brought a box of crayons, an eight pack, and distributed them to my dancers. We talked about how it has taken each of us to make the big picture beautiful just as it has taken all of us to be at practice in order to be ready for this competition.
